Review: New CID Cosmetics I-pout Lipstick in Scarlett*

*Sigh*

What is better than having a creamy red lipstick land on your lap? Easy . . .  A creamy red lipstick with an inbuilt torch light!!!!
What can I say??? . . . I'm a sucker for a gimmick!!!!

New CID Cosmetics I-pout Lipstick in Scarlett is a buildable red lipstick with added Vitamin E, so it not only moisturises your lips while you wear it but it also make this scarlet shade such a comfort to wear.

On my dark skin, the orange undertones in this lipstick shade really comes to life, which really makes a change  from all the darker reds or blue toned red lipsticks I have in my collection. As this is a buildable lipstick you can either wear it as a pigmented wash of colour or as a full blown scarlett vixen.
While the white and silver packaging does help this lipstick stand out in the sea of black, sleek packaging, I personally think that the colour choice is horribly impractical!

It looks great now, but I can guarantee you that just a week in my make-up bag would turn this beauty into a not-so-glamorous mixture of black, grey and brown, with the occasional bronze shimmer. Honestly though the packaging is my only criticism of this lipstick. It is quite creamy and vibrant plus the in-built torchlight has me waving this lippie around in the dark like its a light sabre.
Like I said, I'm a sucker for a gimmick!!

Do you agree with me over the white packaging or am I being too fussy?? What about the torchlight, love it or hate it?

*Disclaimer:- I did not purchase this lipstick. It was either given to me to review or for my own personal enjoyment*

Nude it Down, featuring Make Up Academy Cosmetics

I don't ever really do any nude or neutral looks on my blog, because I honestly find them a bit difficult to do . . . . well difficult in comparison to working with colours.

Colour matching darker skin tones is a bit difficult as there is all those brown, red and yellow undertones just hiding under the skin and frankly I just can not be bothered to neutral looks because I never think it comes out right. Nevertheless, I'm going to be  . . . "attempting" . . . to be doing a nude brown smokey eye using a few of the Makeup Academy (MUA) Pearl and Matte Single Eyeshadows.
Makeup Academy is a good quality, low priced cosmetics brand currently based online or in Superdrug stores Nationwide. With their core collection only costing £1 and their pro collection never going over £15, MUA cosmetics is definetly a brand to stock up on, as you will not be breaking the bank. For this look, I am really trying to keep it simple but I just couldn't resist adding a sly pop of colour.

Review: Man's Ruin . . . The Siren of Lipsticks

I have said this before, and I will say it again. There really is no such thing as a red lipstick that doesn't suit you. Red lipstick suit EVERYONE!!! You just have to know what undertones work best with your skin tone and then go on a discovery mission to collect every lipstick tube with that undertone.

What I adore about red lipsticks is just how versatile the colour is. You really just never know how workable a red lippie is . . . until you fall head over heels in love with a shade and for me, my red lipstick crush of choice is Rockalily's Man's Ruin
I first came across Man's Ruin at the ZOMG Bloggers Bash event last month and I swear this shade just hypnotised me. Unfortunately for me, it was out of stock the day after the event *rotten timing on my part*  so being the rational and responsible blogger that I am, I stalked the Rockalily website, their twitter page and also their creator's Reereerockette's twitter page until I found out that they had a few more tubes of Man's Ruin in stock.
On the website's stock pictures and when compared to other vibrant red lipsticks, Man's Ruin does tend to come off looking very purple toned and it would be forgiveable to assume that it was a purple lipstick shade rather than a purple-berry red. When I wear it however, I do not see any purple at all!!! This shows up as a dark wine red that is absolutely spot on with my skin shade and as an added bonus, I think it even makes my teeth looks whiter than normal.
I don't think anyone really understands just how much I adore this lipstick. Apart from it's gorgeous and rich colour, the lipstick formula feels soo nice. My lips feel nourished and soft under the lipstick. The Rockalily lipsticks are enriched with vitamin E so are not drying in any way, shape or form, and as an added bonus the lasting time is phenomenal
I really love this red lipstick and thought it would be perfect to share with you as part of my Colour themed Makeup Series that I am currently running. What do you think? Have I tempted you into give Man's Ruin a go??
